How to Measure particulate air pollution and share the data online

by alxmjo

He have been curious about particulate air pollution. So he made this instruction based on design and code Cris Nafis who is an engineer at GE.

This instructable is made with #Arduino Ethernet board and #Shinyei #PPD42 praticle sensor.
This is useful to share an air paritcle sensor data with other peoples by using Xively cloud server.

He describes a total of 12 steps into four themes how to make this instructable.

  • Four Themes
    1. Connect an air particle sensor to an Arduino Ethernet
    2. Connect an Arduino Ethernet to the internet
    3. Create an account on Xilvely
    4. Share sensor data from an air particle sensor and Arduino Ethernet on Xively.
  • 12 Steps
    1. Buying parts and materials
    2. Preparing the particle sensor
    3. Connecting the Grove shield to the Arduino Ethernet
    4. Connect the Shinyei particle sensor
    5. Connect the Arduino Ethernet to the computer
    6. Install the Arduino IDE and set board and serial port
    7. Load test sketch to make sure everything’s working
    8. Set up an account and device on Xively
    9. Expand Arduino IDE’s capability by adding tow libraries
    10. Load final sketch which will allow sharing data online
    11. Connect the particle sensor to your router and start posting data
    12. Change the units on Xively and be done!
