beakn v0.2 : DIY Lync Status Light with an Arduino or Netduino, Ping Pong Ball and a Cardboard Box – Now Cloud Driven with MQTT

by Jon Gallant

Jon Gallant is an engineer worked at IoT developer, MicroSoft. This Project alarmed a Lync status with RED, GREEN, YELLOW LED on the Arduino with Ethernet Shield by using MQTT cloud service. It is IoT Device named as Beakn.

The goal of Beakn is to get into the shoes of a maker and see what it takes to take a product from inception to proof of concept to prototype and finally to production. The end product will be a completely wireless Lync status light that you place anywhere in your office, home or oil rig.

If you are interested in Lync program of MS and Arduino IoT Device DIY, You can refer to this project.

Materials

  • Arudino Uno
  • Ethernet Shield
  • Bread Board
  • Ping-pong Ball
  • LEDs : RED, GREEN, YELLOW
  • Wires
  • Ethernet Cable
  • Etc

Configuration

The Application runed on a Computer checks the status of Lync and publishes the status on MQTT Cloud server as issues, Beakn subcribes the status of Lync from MQTT Cloud server and controlls to the 3-color LED appropriated to the status.

  • PC Application Install
  • Beakn with 3-Color LED for Arduino
    • RED: D5
    • YELLOW: D6
    • GREEN: D7
