Description

This module can handle Ethernet for your board (f.x. an Arduino), and give it 5V from passive Power over Ethernet (PoE). The module is not IEEE 802.3af/at compliant and using a usual PoE source (f.x. a PoE switch) will give +48V to the module and surely blow it.

Requirements:

  • Max 100 feet Ethernet cable
  • Max 400 mA (the module itself will use just a few mA)
  • The source of power at the other end of the Ethernet cable:
    • must follow usual passive PoE (on cables 4&5 and 7&8).
    • 12V or 9V if using a short Ethernet cable (12V with a short cable will make the 5V voltage converter next to the RF45 plug very hot)

All the chosen SMD components are available on the JLCPCB SMT Assembly so you can simply order it and get them to solder all the smd components for you. Then you can order the through-hole components on LCSC and solder these yourself.
